At Ed4Online we hope to set a standard for sustainable education practices in our industry. In addition to maintaining environmentally responsible business practices, we promote balanced and healthy living for our staff.
Carbon Neutral Servers using Renewable Energy
Our server company AWS is measuring, reducing, and offsetting its servers carbon footprint. In addition to the environmental benefits inherently associated with running applications in the cloud, AWS has a long-term commitment to achieve 100% renewable energy usage for our global infrastructure. They plan to offer the most energy efficient, highest quality, and most reliable server technology to their customers.
As more and more books are moving to e-versions we have adopted them for our students. Approximately 35 textbooks can be made out of one tree and for each 35 ebooks we use, rather than traditional printed textbooks, we have not only saved a tree but we have improved our environmental impact.
Encourage Company-Wide Recycling
We reduce waste via a company-wide recycling program. We recycle materials such as aluminum cans, glass, batteries, paper, and plastic. We also encourage all of our staff to recycle as well. We reuse and repurpose equipment for as long as we reasonably can. Once a piece of equipment has reached the end of its useful life, we donate parts or entire systems to various organizations.
Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth. In 1944, Heifer sent the first cows abroad. They were distributed throughout Europe following World War II. Heifer has expanded its mission and the types of animals it now provides—from goats, geese and guinea pigs to bees, silkworms and water buffalo.
Ed4Online makes quarterly donations to Heifer Project. By giving families a hand-up, not just a handout, Heifer empowers them to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity, but their approach is more than that. Heifer offers training in animal husbandry to each family & community that receives an animal.
By bringing communities together and linking them with markets in their area, Heifer helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty.
The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN) along with their sister organization Corporate America Supports You (CASY) provides active military, veterans, and military spouses employment readiness and job placement solutions. They do this by offering high-touch training services that help prepare the individual for employment through resume assistance, translating skills and experience, identifying gap skills solutions. They also offer training on networking, social media, interview preparedness, and other topics that aid in the job search process.
Ed4Online has partnered with CASY-MSCCN to sponsor a new program called “Boots to Books for Paychecks”. We are working together to get the solider, veteran &/or military spouse the training they need to compete in today’s workforce. We offer low-cost career training as well as soft-skills & professional development training to the folks that need additional education to enter in the civilian job market. Ed4Online donates both full and partial scholarships for those that have exhausted their available financial resources and find that they still are not prepared for the civilian workplace.
Kiva.org is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals and groups lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.
Through giving monthly microloans, Ed4Online supports Kiva's vision of a world where all people - even in the most remote areas of the globe - hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others.
We believe providing safe, affordable access to capital to those in need helps small business entrepreneurs create better lives for themselves and their families.
